Bald Cypress - I took my sawzall and cut from the rear at an angle to the
front about half way thru...
Then grabbed the top and pulled downward to create the long Shari
down the front...
Now that its not 12' tall its a little easier to remove the root ball and start
the repot.  Notice all the mychorriza in the soil.
Being in a 5 gallon pot I knew several inches could be removed safely.
As you can see it was a solid root mass.
So I used the root hook to tease out the root ball.
I am using a large feed tub purchased at the local farm store with
several holes drilled in the bottom.  Nice fit for a large tree.
After the tree is potted.  I took handfuls of the original soil and mixed back
into the new bonsai soil mix to add back in the beneficial fungus.
The tree has recovered very nicely.  I will begin work on shaping the
branches this winter when all the needles fall off.
